Telltale Games grew to become an industry leader in episodic delivery of narrative games, winning numerous accolades for its best-selling titles. Working with a small team of talented industry veterans, we will honor that tradition while also pushing the boundaries of the way players consume and experience interactive storytelling. We are seeking a skilled UI/UX Designer to help write the future story of Telltale, including for our upcoming sequel to The Wolf Among Us.

The UI/UX Designer is responsible for developing and implementing the UI and for our next title. Ideal candidates will bring a high-level broad skillset and have shipped titles in Unreal.

The position is for part time (20 hours a week) or full-time employment, and would be hybrid WFH/office in either our Corte Madera or Malibu office or fully remote. Open to discussing a per project engagement.


  • Design and create high quality UI components and VFX for menus, icons, stats/inventory screens, and in-game HUD elements for tutorials and gameplay mechanics
  • Create all build and store assets, ensuring adherence to all distributor and 1st party guidelines as well as be the champion to exploit all store features available to developers.
  • Own and be accountable for the UI design of the game including developing strict style guides, rule sets, and templates
  • Interface with key internal client and project stakeholders to help ensure the user experience reflects customer needs and consistency
  • Explore, iterate on, and design how motion is used to enhance and drive usability through playtesting
  • Provide visual mockups including but not limited to rough sketches, storyboards, user flows, as well as clickable prototypes and motion comps
  • Provide UX solutions, in collaboration with Game Designers
  • Assist the Publishing and Marketing teams with promotional asset creation
  • Predict, identify, and resolve experience design issues that could impede player experience

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Solid understanding of usability, UX, UI, interaction design, HCI principles, and motion design
  • Possess excellent understanding of style guidelines, design processes, and creative workflow
  • Expert level skills with Adobe Creative Suite. Strong focus on visual design
  • Ability to quickly learn and use proprietary software in daily workflow
  • Be motivated, and proactive. Independent, organized yet flexible, and able to prioritize effectively without losing sight of the big picture
  • Be a highly collaborative team player, open to critiques from all disciplines, and not afraid to share your ideas openly
  • Have solid experience developing UI for PC and Console
  • Proactive and straightforward with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion and excitement for narrative games
  • An excellent portfolio showcasing UI design work across various products in various styles
  • Nice to have: a full awareness of and expertise in developing UI in Unreal Engine 4 using Blueprints, Widgets and Unreal Motion Graphics (UMG)
